Chemical-physical purification plants use multi-stage final filtration systems.

These pressure filtrations can be composed of several stages with several products, one of which is granular activated carbon filtration.

Granular activated carbons are the suitable system to remove organic compounds such as COD, surfactants, phenols, pigments, permanganate, organic solvents and organic substances in general.

The purification-filtration process uses granular activated carbons through a steam process, this activation system creates a very wide and deep porosity, the activated carbon so treated is able to absorb a large amount of organic substances, the absorption is due to the contact of the water that has to be treated with the granular activated carbon.

The activated carbon filtration, after a period of service, exhaust their function and the carbon must be replaced, the correct planning, sizing and automation strongly limits the bacterial development inside the activated carbon, avoiding the decrease of the cyclic yield while the correct backwashes contrast the increase of nitrites due to the transformation of nitrogen inside the filtering column.

Pentacque, thanks to its experience in water treatment and after studies on adsorption processes, offers its customers a series of filters with various capacities, carefully evaluating during the design phase the flow rate, the operating pressure, the contact time and the type of activated carbon to be used. This means that it is possible to build filtration plants and maximize the adsorption of unpleasant chemical substances contained in the water coming out of a purification plant.
